THE FIRST RUSSIAN ABC FOR MIGRANTS

Abstract: 

After the break-up of the USSR, many migrants from the former Soviet republics moved to St.Petersburg. Children who did not know Russian enrolled in schools. The Department of Intercultural Communication of Herzen State University (St.Petersburg) created the first Russian ABC for migrants that will help children acquire Russian language skills. It consists of a text book, a workbook, a multimedia CD-Rom and a teacher’s manual. The textbook can also be used in kindergartens to prepare children for school.
