KAZAN PROVINCE MERCHANTS ENGAGED IN BARTER TRADING IN ORENBURG REGION AT THE END OF 18TH – FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

Abstract: 

The article discusses some aspects of participation of Kazan Province merchants in trading in Orenburg and Troitsk customs lines at the end of 18th-first half of the 19th century. The author makes an attempt to determine the role and importance of the Tatar national factor in trade exchange in the Kazakh steppe, to identify the quantitative characteristics of traders, clerks and employees, product range, to show the features of mechanisms for trade. The article traces the connection of the barter trade in the steppe with the leading trade fairs of the country in Nizhny Novgorod and Irbit.
