“-Y”genetive in the initial system (based on the еlectronic corpus of the 11th century Slavonic-Russian manuscripts)

Abstract:

The article is carried out in line with a new scientific trend in historical linguistics – electronic or computer paleoslawistics. For the first time, this work has examined the -y genitive constructs based on the electronic corpus of the 11th century Slavic-Russian manuscripts. This is a very voluminous electronic collection, which is presented on the portal “Manuscript” in a “machine-readable” form (the address of the portal is http://manuscripts.ru). The machine-readable nature of the Internet edition allows you to use IT-modules to search for specific grammatical forms. For the first time, we have considered the morphological dynamics of the -y genitive singular forms, based on a comprehensive volume of forms and comparative analysis with the singular forms of the local case. The article proves a wide distribution of the -y genitive variative forms and determines their semantic specificity. The conclusions contain a quantitative technique clearly indicating that at such an early period, the interaction of o- and u-bases in the genitive and local cases was mostly of a formal nature. However, the dative case of the same period has already acquired a certain functional color. The dynamics of variability in the genitive case singular still remains an insufficiently studied phenomenon. The scientific and research base obviously needs both novel data and novel conclusions in terms of theory and grammar.
