Interpretation of numbers in the language of D. Kharms

This article studies the category of number in the communicatively-pragmatic intent of fictional text, the relevant issue of modern linguistics. The object of our study is Daniil Kharms’s poetic and prosaic texts, interpreted in terms of the avant-garde. The purpose of this work is to identify the features of use of the number in the linguistic-cognitive narrative of the writer. Within the framework of this article, the concepts of absurdity and alogism are integrated as two structural-stylistic units of the writer's discursive potential. As a result of the analysis, it can be argued that the number in D. Kharms’s language system has a direct impact on the compatibility of linguistic elements both in terms of lexico-semantic coherence, and in terms of composition-structural modeling of the highest communicative unit of language - text. Thus, the main function of the number is the function of coherence. The cumulative (accumulative) principle is dominant in creating Kharms’s text space: threading the same type of events, characters and standardizing structures, as a result, their complete or partial destruction in the end. The same thing happens to the numbers that are subject to oblivion and transformation. The violation of numerical correlations leads to the deformation both of the plot and the hero. It should be noted that the number descriptors in the language of Daniil Kharms form a special conceptosphere that represents the author's intentions.

Key words:

absurdity, number, numerical correlation, coherent function, illogical language, transformation.
