Dynamics of purpose setting in speech

Abstract: 

Speech acts are purpose-oriented. In speech activity, the purpose is accompanied by factors of linguistic and extra-linguistic nature, contributing to the disclosure of the dynamic aspect of purpose setting. The purpose dynamics of a speech act is conditioned by its change in the process of communication. The article studies the reasons for the shift of purpose in the addressee’s speech activity. Among them is a shift or substitution of attitudes, a change of topic, differences in the volume of knowledge, role shifts, shifts of a communicative situation, speakers’ characteristics, and a change of interlocutors.
