Loanwords as a result of contacts of the Russian and Tatar population in eighteenth century Tobolsk

Abstract: 

The article analyzes Russian and Turkic textual borrowings of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries. It outlines the main trends of lexical studies: the issues of variability and synonymy, of gradual assimilation of foreign-language lexemes, of word formation based on borrowings, etc. This work identifies theme groups of loan words: kitchen utensils, clothes, headwear, items for household needs, etc. and defines lexical units both firmly included in the contacting languages and those which have lost their lexical significance. The article also examines the ways language loans have affected a cultural exchange of material values.
