From a model with a figurative meaning to a stereotype: the synergy of the internal form of proverbs

Abstract:

The article describes the categorical nature and linguistic-semiotic status of the internal form of proverbs. It clarifies generic and specific features of the internal form of various types of signs belonging to indirectly-derived nomination and presents fragments of the analysis of such mechanisms for the implementation of the internal form of folk aphorisms as direct lexical, metaphorically reconsidered and compositionally expressed motivation. The description of the interaction between the cognitive base values and discursive conditions enables the author to characterize the categorical properties of the internal form of proverbs that affect their cognitive-pragmatic function of stereotyping. A frame-text analysis of proverbs illustrates the mechanism for generating paremic units in comparison with the discursive mechanism of meaning formation.

Key words:

paremias, internal form, linguistic-cognitive status, cognitive base of paremic meaning, frame, concept, stereotype.
