CH.AITMATOV’S «APOCALYPTIC DILOGY»: «THE SCAFFOLD» («THE PLACE OF THE SKULL») AND «CASSANDRA'S BRAND»

Abstract: 

This article studies Aitmatov’s novels «The Scaffold » («The Place of the Skull») and «Cassandra's Brand». It describes the most significant structural-semantic features of the works, identifying the semantic dominant of the social and existential aspect. The novels are considered as a kind of dilogy which reflects the dialectical nature of the author’s creative thinking.
