MYTHOLOGIZING THE TROUBLED TIMES. STAGE AND SCREEN INCARNATIONS OF PUSHKIN'S DRAMA «BORIS GODUNOV» IN THE PRODUCTIONS OF A.EFROS, Y.LYUBIMOV, V.MIRZOYEV

Abstract:

The first major work which defined the myth of “the Troubles in Russia” was Pushkin's drama «Boris Godunov». The most important scenes, the historical highlights, and the moral judgments of the charac-ters are later borrowed and repeated by most of the authors exploring this topic. The personal perception of the Troubled Times, the original interpretation of Pushkin's text, and the creation of new myths about «the Troubles in Russia» in the stage direction of such outstanding Soviet directors as A.Efros and Yu.Lyubimov may serve as an example.

Key words:

A.Pushkin, Boris Godunov, Troubled Times, stage and screen incarnation.
